Should I Be Taking Creatine?

1. What is creatine?

Creatine is an organic acid naturally produced in the human body that supplies energy to it, especially to the muscles.

2. Where can creatine be found?

Besides the quantities produced by our own bodies, creatine can be found in small amounts in red meat and fish but cooking destroys almost all of it. There have also been created creatine supplements which can be found at any drug store and even online.

3.      Why do people take creatine?

There are several reasons for taking creatine supplements. First off is used as a replacement for steroids to enhance athletic performances. Researches have shown that creatine is beneficial for high-intensity activities like weight lifting, but has no effect when is used for endurance sports like marathon running.

Second, studies have shown that creatine can help with several muscle weakness conditions like muscular dystrophy. It can also be used after injuries that weaken the muscles or after intensive workouts.

4.      Are there any side effects?

So far there haven’t been reported any major, life-threatening side effects. Among the most common possible side effects there are: muscle craps, stomach cramps and nausea, loss of appetite, diarrhea.  There is also an increased risk of dehydration because the creatine draws water from the body into the muscle tissue.

It is also recommended for people with kidney or liver diseases to avoid taking creatine because it could possibly make the disease worse.

5.      Should creatine be taken with other nutrients?

To enhance the creatine uptake into the muscles it is recommended to combine it with a high carbohydrate drink or supplement. It can also be taken with D-pinitol or large amounts of glucose (around 100 grams)

Changing Your Health & Fitness Habits For Good

It is a big clique when people say that every big walk started with a small step. It is also 100% true. Only getting started and keeping going will you achieve the results that you want.

If you’re not exactly where you want to be fitness-wise, I will suggest that you’re probably taking the wrong approach to it. And that’s ok, everyone makes mistakes.

Starting out too big can compromise your efforts completely. Start small, get momentum for yourself and build upon that momentum to achieve greater goals. If you take this approach, it will also minimize the potential anxiety that you could get and succumb to your old habits, potentially throwing all of your previous effort out the window.

You see, it is my honest belief that achieving success when it comes to fitness is as much a psychological process as it is a physical one. It is more than just going through the motions of a decent routine and diet.

A nice mental environment is critical if you want to change your lifestyle in any degree. Getting rid of the misinformation that you’ve been given throughout the years is also imperative.

Acchieving the body and health status that you want to have can be a fun process if you allow it to be. There will always exist the social pressure from peers that will comment on the decision you’ve made to better yourself. Some comments will be positive, some will be negative and some may even try to help you. Pick the comments that you like, keep them on the back of your head and dump the rest.

Changing your ways and habits little by little and in a constant fashion is the one way to change them for good.

How To Make Your Body Abhor Fast Food

One recommendation I always give is cutting out fast food. Cutting fast food completely or for the most part is the one thing that I believe everyone should do that will bring, without exception, benefits to your health and well-being.

There are virtually no nutritional benefits and loads of saturated fats included with each meal. Even salads are bad at these establishments; they contain the same, if not more fat than regular meals.

The consumption of junk food is also a terrible threat if you want to accomplish fitness goals. These facts are widely-known, but we have to act upon this information.

They say that each man’s body is a sanctuary. I believe this to be true, and I also believe that you should take care of your personal sanctuary. Note that this doesn’t mean that you can’t be indulgent once in a while or have a big mac here and there, but it does mean that you’ll have to pick, set and stick to a regular routine.

Changing your lifestyle doesn’t have to be a burden: there are certain things that will make the whole process enjoyable for you. You just really have to be serious about wanting to change.

Saying that you don’t have time is not a valid excuse. We all have 24 hours to live each day, there is only so much work you can get done and so much physical activities you should do, exercising should be a vital part of your schedule.

Starting out with a small routine that only takes a few minutes a day and increasing your time as you see fit is a perfectly valid and relatively easy way to get going. So there, if you didn’t have time before, you’ve just made some time.

Why You Are Making Excuses Instead Of Getting Fit (And How To Stop)

I often hear excuses from people who want to get fit but just can’t seem to pull it off. “I don’t have enough time” “The routines are too hard!” “I can’t seem to keep up with the diet” “I’ve been working out for a couple of weeks and don’t see any visible results!” and so on.

You get it.

The problem with all these excuses is that the people who give them don’t see beyond what they have now. Everyone wants to be a 10 looks and health wise, that’s not news. However, strength and fitness don’t come easy. At least lasting strength and fitness don’t.

Sticking to your exercise routine is as important as starting it. There are no overnight results, those are a myth. The fact of the matter is that most men will simply try a routine or a machine for a few days and see little to no results before giving up. Don’t be like that. If you stick to your guns, the result will get there, you just have to be a little patient.

You know how almost everyone sets goals for themselves at the beginning of a year? These often include getting a gym membership and losing weight. The dropout rates for gym memberships are alarming: almost 60% after just five months of having joined!

Do you see what I mean now?

The former is why finding a routine that doesn’t exhaust you, yet demands that you exercise properly is of such critical importance. A healthy diet rich in vitamins and nutrients is also quite important. Nobody expects that you don’t treat yourself once in a while, but replacing sugars with fruits and vegetables, even if you do it slowly, will bring great benefits on the long run.

Quick Tips To Avoid Obesity

We’ve discussed how fitness is not a fast process for everybody before. However, the benefits of getting fit are large for the small sacrifices that you’ll have to make, if any. For some people fitness is just a matter of rearranging routines and cutting/reducing a few things from their diets.

Modern day life has some of us sitting in a chair on front of a monitor all day long. If you have a career that demands that you be seated for long periods of time, the changes to your routine will be a few more but still doable for pretty much anyone. This kind of sedentary lifestyle alongside a poor diet is one of the main reasons for nearly 42% of Americans being obese. This has to change.

Physical impediments, while a valid reason for obesity, don’t mean you shouldn’t work out. In fact, chances are that if you’re reading this, you’re physically capable of performing a regular exercise routine without major complications.

That brings me to my next point: in reality, psychological hinders are the biggest reason people don’t work out regularly or have a healthy lifestyle. They think that exercising and having a healthy diet will translate into having to completely change their habits or stop eating the things that they enjoy.

I’m going to debunk that myth right now: you can lead a healthy life and have a fit body without having to make an incredible amount of sacrifices.

If you don’t feel like getting a gym membership right now, that’s ok, you can begin with little things. For example, you can begin taking 30 to 60 minute walks everyday, just be sure to be constant and you’ll be able to feel the benefits sooner than later.

Taking walks is just a small, albeit effective, suggestion of what you can do right now to improve your health.

Forget About Information Overload (And Get Fit In The Process)

We live in the information overload era. Virtually any piece of data we could possibly want it available to us at the click of a button. The thing is, most people are far too busy to do proper research and form a concrete opinion about a subject.

Seeing a representation of what I just said in the fitness world is as easy as looking at the plethora of machines, programs and supplements available to us. It’s overwhelming. This leads to quite a few men creating the misconception that fitness is not for them, so they end up doing little to nothing for their bodies and general well-being.

The former is called “paralysis by analysis” and it is poisonous for any man looking to get into the fitness world at any capacity.

It is important that you understand that it doesn’t have to be this way. Fitness can, and should, be simple. Leave the mind blowing, body-crushing routines to the pros; start with something simple and go from there. The most important thing is that you get going.

A few minutes of research on the internet (and yes, I do mean a few minutes) will reveal routines that require virtually no equipment. Here’s the part where it gets a little tricky: not all routines will work for all people, but that’s fine, you should pick something specific that has worked for someone your size and that you can pick up as soon as possible.

That’s all you need to do really, search for a program that you think will work for you and stick to it religiously. If you have specific doubts about a program, there are numerous forums and message boards available for you to consult.

Search, pick and stick to it. Yes, fitness can be that simple.

The Reality of The Matter is That Fitness Is a Continuous Process.

If you’re anything like what I used to be, you have looked at yourself and wondered why you aren’t as fit as you’d like to be. My thought process would start with some thoughts about how my body isn’t what it used to be, and then pin the guilt that this fact would generate on my work, significant other, stress, lack of time, etc.

The list was endless.

But then I thought that maybe, just maybe, I could change my regular habits just a little to try and improve upon myself. “What’s there to lose?” – I thought. That was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.

The thing about fitness is that it seems like a 1 and 0 game. What I mean by that is that we think that if we don’t accomplish that statue-like body we want so badly after a little while, we’re never going to get it. Those kinds of thought set false expectations and can be dangerous for us.

The reality of the matter is that fitness is a continuous process.

We’re being bombarded constantly by infomercials promising quick and lasting results, so long as we use the machine, supplement or whatever it is they’re selling to us. That’s bull.

Don’t get me wrong, there ARE some products advertised on television that do work, but they are far and few between, so it really isn’t worth your time and money to keep searching for something that does the job when what you need is probably already at hand and available to you.

A gym membership and healthy nutrition habits will go a long way in helping you accomplish the results you are after.

Increase The Quality of Your Health Status

There are certain aspects of a man’s life that need to be taken care of if we want to really feel good. Fitness & health are probably the two most important. The benefits of being in shape are numerous and go from increasing your energy levels, speed & stamina to responding better to the physical challenges of everyday life and many, many more.

As a matter of fact, if you’re planning on getting/staying fit, let me be the first to congratulate you on making such a good decision for your general well being. What you’ll be getting out of this largely undermines any sort of emotional complication.

Now, granted, getting and staying fit can be a rigorous process, especially if it is the first time you plan on doing regular exercise routines and controlling your diet. The good news is: you have numerous options on how to go about it, so you can pick one that doesn’t change your lifestyle and regular habits that much.

As you know, doing regular exercise and having an exercise routine will largely increase the quality of your health status. The numerous routines available on books and the internet can be very helpful, just be sure to pick something that’s good for you.

Let me clarify: by “something that’s good for you” I mean a routine and diet that’s been proven to work and that is derivative of your current habits so you can integrate it to your lifestyle immediately.

Fitness can be as easy as picking up a good routine and diet and stick to them. It is a continuous process, yes, but it is also an incredibly rewarding one.
